Transitioning into Fall with These Essentials

Fall weather is close! Every cool morning and chilly evening gets us closer to beautiful fall days filled with pumpkin patches, apple pie, colorful leaves, and all the cozy clothes!

Dressing for transitional weather can be tricky since the mornings can be drastically different in temperature than the afternoon. But if you're like me and can't wait to break out the sweaters and blanket scarves, here are some of my favorite pieces to style for fall outfits that won't make you sweat.

Lightweight Sweaters & Vests

It's not quite time for chunky sweaters and fuzzy vests, so lightweight options are a great transitional piece. Because they are light, they look great front-tucked into a pair of jeans or mini skirt, or untucked and layered. Light vests are a great way to stay warm on chilly mornings and evenings, but won't make you overheat during the day.

My favorites:

Lightweight Pullover | Vest

Peep Toe Booties

Wearing knee-high boots or closed-toe booties can get a little toasty in the hot weather, but you can still get away with wearing fall shoes in the warmer temperatures. Try wearing peep-toe booties or perforated booties to complete your fall look while still hinting at warmer temps.

My favorites:

Western-Inspired Booties | Perforated Booties

Mules

It may be time to retire your sandals for the year, but mules can be a great, fun alternative. Coming in every pattern and material, these easy slip-on shoes can be dressed up or worn casually for a simple fall look. Backless mule slides are a very popular choice this fall!

My favorites:

Suede Blush Mules | Studded Loafer Mules

Chambray Button Down

Easily one of the most versatile pieces in your closet, a chambray button down can be worn many different ways and is the perfect layering choice for fall temperatures. They're lightweight, soft, and thanks to the nature of the look they provide, you can dress up with a skirt or wear with your favorite leggings and pair of booties.

My favorites:

Long-sleeve Chambray | Tie-Front Chambray

Hats

One of my favorite trends this fall are hats. They've been making a comeback over the past few years, but wool-blend floppy hats have been on the rise and their time has come to shine. Beret-style hats are back this year and it's a chic alternative to wearing a knit beanie with a dressier outfit! Accessorizing with a hat is a great way to take an outfit from zero to hero. Simple jeans and a t-shirt look have a more polished finish if paired with a hat and the right shoes!

My favorites:

Wool Floppy Hat | Beret
