Buffalo in Bel Air
In my family, you can't go wrong with buffalo chicken. Especially when it's fried and tossed with your pick of hot sauce.
That's exactly what we got when we visited C.R. Wings in Bel Air, MD, where they "Do It Buffalo Style."
If the fiance hadn't heard about it through someone at work, we would have never known it existed. By that, I mean it's tucked away in a shopping center right next to this little pizza and sub joint. They look like the same place!
But as soon as you walk through the door, you get smacked in the face with the smell of hot sauce and you know you're in for a treat. With about 20 different wing sauce flavors and a huge menu, there are plenty of options. The menu is even slightly customizable if you ask nicely ;)
Every month, C.R. Wings creates a new hot sauce to feature, which is something you don't want to miss!
The fiance ordered a tried and true menu item, the buffalo tenders and fries with their Hot Sauce. This is a great middle-of-the-road sauce for someone who likes a kick of heat without burning the inside of their mouth. Usually, we get more adventurous, but our first time, we stayed within our comfort zone.
After scanning the huge menu for a few minutes, I decided to order the Buffalo Bob Sandwich (customized as a wrap) with the Sweet Heat sauce. Again, a pretty "safe" order - the wrap just has fried chicken, hot sauce of your choosing, lettuce, and tomato. But the asian flavors of the Sweet Heat sauce really kicked it up a notch. There wasn't a lot of heat, but the flavor made up for it. Definitely worth ordering again!
The whole vibe of the place was great. It was super casual, which makes it great for a hot lunch spot. Order at the counter, pick a table, and they call your name when the food is ready! The walls are covered in local sports memorabilia, which adds a cool bit of flair to the whole experience.
