Fun, Unique Date Ideas

It's that time of year when you might be planning a special night with your "better half." Over the last few years, my husband and I have been more focused on creating memories instead of collecting things - so while we still get each other gifts for the big holidays & birthdays, we like to go on trips, have shared experiences, and make lasting memories with each other and the girls.

These are some of our favorite local date ideas:

Candle Making at Aroma Candle Studio

We had the opportunity to check out the newest addition to main street in Bel Air and it was a blast! With over 80 individual scents to choose from, make a candle that is your favorite scent with soy wax. The owners, Mark and Wendy, make each experience personalized and special so you create a candle that is exactly what you are looking for. Hubby made a really fresh, bright candle with orange zest and mint while I made one that is warm and cozy with chardonnay and fig.

Couple's Massage

Nothing screams romance quite like a couple's massage - and there are a ton of places that have excellent options. The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore and About Faces Day Spa have sweet option for a wonderful date night or day date.

Museums

We love going to museums. Spending time absorbed in history, artwork, and artifacts is really special when you have the time to soak it all in. It's nice to have someone to talk about things with and learn. The Walter's Art Museum is a romantic, chic date location, while the National Aquarium lends itself to a more playful and fun date. One of our first "real" dates was to the Aquarium and we've gone to many aquariums in our travels.

iFLY

Another fun date idea is to fly high... in a tunnel of air. It really seems like a crazy concept but is an amazing experience! (And a definite safer option to sky diving) Make a day date out of it: grab lunch, go fly, spend time together.

Spending time together and doing more than just dinner can go a long way in keeping the flame lit. Dating your spouse is one of the most important things you can do for a marriage - and going on a fun date is even better!

This Valentine's Day, commit to making memories together.
