All in Favor of Press-On Nails

I admit - I was skeptical the first time I tried press-on nails. In my mind, they were flimsy, weak, and didn't stick longer than a few hours. More or less, I was expecting them to look cheap and juvenile.

But I was incredibly surprised.

Not only are these nails long-lasting and high-quality, but they come in a ton of colors and styles that are perfect for every occasion. Impress Press-on Nails are available in a variety of colors, shades, lengths, and even patterns!

But I have learned a few things along the way, after using these nails for a few months! In fact, these nails last at least 2 weeks when properly applied for a fraction of the cost of going to the salon (because let's be honest, I do not have time for that!).

Here are my tips and tricks to having the best success with press-on nails.

Cut and File

Before applying the nails, freshly trim and file your nails. This also means using the provided cuticle remover to push the cuticle back and trimming if necessary. Keeping them at a shorter length will ensure that the full nail bed will be covered by the adhesive.

Clean

After preparing your nails, it is important to get them as clean as possible. Remove any existing polish (if any) and thoroughly clean with rubbing alcohol. Any dirt, grime, or residue on the nail will prevent the adhesive from sticking well.

Apply

Select the size for your nails to ensure they fit completely over your own nail, with the tab toward your cuticle, without any overhang. if the press-on nail does not fully stick to your nail bed, there is a greater chance that they will not stick properly. Remove the tab from the adhesive, and carefully line up with your nail bed and press down, firmly. Press from side-to-side.

Tips & Tricks

There are numbers on the plastic tabs. Before you get started, match the numbers in pairs so it is easier to select the ones that fit best.

I've found that the best time to apply these nails is before bed. Mostly so you aren't tempted to do too much after application for a few hours. The longer you can let the adhesive have a chance to fully bond with your nails, the better.

This also includes avoiding water for as long as possible. This is why it is so important to do this after housework, chores, and the kids go to bed (haha!). But trust me, it makes a huge difference.

You can find these nails at Target, Walgreens, or Rite Aid. However if you really want the best selection, order them online! Not only are there discount codes you can apply, but if you order a certain amount, you will get a free set of nails and free shipping. I stock up on my favorites so I never have to worry about them being sold out.
