Accepting Your Season of Life
This is something I've been struggling with a lot lately. I guess you could say that I have mini-FOMO! One of the dangers of social media is that it's a lot easier to see what other people are doing and wish you were doing the same thing. Whether that means taking a huge leap in their career, traveling constantly, or chasing their dreams (whatever that means for them), it's so easy to get caught up in seeing what other people are doing and comparing that to your own life. I j

The Importance of Date Night
In the last 2 weeks, Brian and I have had two date nights. Say whaaaaaat?! We get so tied up in the mundane, the routine, and the everyday tasks that life throw at us, that we rarely take time for ourselves. But now that we have 2 girls, there are days (yes, days...) that we go without talking about anything other than feeding schedules and our eldest's "terrible twos" attitude. It's usually kept brief because by the time Brian gets home, I'm already half asleep on the couch

My Birth Story with Delaney Grace
First of all... this is going to be a long post. I mean, how could I possibly leave out any detail of our little one's arrival into the world. I went back and forth as to whether or not I would share the details of Delaney's birth (mostly because I never had the platform to share Caroline's birth story, so it was to be fair), but I am proud of her birth story and there are a lot of people that went into making sure everything went smoothly. But you've been warned, there are

Sleep When the Baby Sleeps...
Every new mom hears these words like a broken record offered as cute little sentiments during their pregnancy. But as a second-time mom, I know this is the biggest lie you can tell a new mom. Instead, offer real advice like how to master showering with children, or how to make grilled cheese with one hand and hold baby with the other. Why It Doesn't Work You see, in theory, it would make sense to sleep when the baby sleeps because then you would be well-rested for middle of t

How Do Kids Spell LOVE?
This blog has been a few months in the making. Mostly because I was trying to wrap my head around my thoughts and opinions for so long - I wrote, deleted, wrote again, and so on. But, I think I finally got it - and it took until after I had my second child to really understand. How Do Kids Spell "LOVE?" I saw this question on a church sign and I think it holds a lot of value. It's a heavy question, and definitely holds the ability to make you think. When Brian and I were plan

What They Didn't Tell Me About Being a Mom
When I was pregnant with our first daughter, I was terrified. I'd be lying if I said I was excited. It was all new (and rather unexpected) territory for me and so I started reading articles I found on Google and watching movies like What to Expect When You're Expecting. Expert advice, I know. But, we survived and we got through it and have the most amazing 2-and-a-half year old. We thought out family was complete. Then we found out we were pregnant again! And truly, we were

Bumpdate - 24 Weeks
Saying that we're headed down the homestretch seems a little premature, but honestly, we are. We're closer to rounding 3rd base, if you ask me! The last month has flown by. As we plan ahead for a busy fall, I know for a fact that the rest of the 16 weeks will go by in the blink of an eye. I'm trying to cherish every moment of being pregnant, knowing it's our LAST TIME (yes, mom, this is the last time!), but I am not a mom who truly loves being pregnant. Nevertheless, it's

A Fiesta-Themed Gender Reveal Party
Last Sunday, we celebrated our growing little family. And had all our friends over for a little fiesta-themed gender reveal. Our He-Or-She-esta was a blast and it was full of love and excitement as our family and close friends braved the rainstorm to be with us. (Scroll to the bottom to see the gender reveal!) Our gender reveal for Caroline was a little over-the-top, so I knew I wanted to keep it simpler this time, which is exactly what we did. We didn't rent out a private r

I'm No June Cleaver: Confessions of an Imperfect Mom
I'm not June Cleaver. Not even close. I feel like when you tell people that you are a stay-at-home mom or even a work-at-home mom, they get a mental picture of a perfectly decorated house with the smell of cookies baking in the oven while your kids play [nicely] outside with Fido. Sure, I dream of waking up early each morning to get make homemade cinnamon buns for breakfast and to set the table, drink my first cup of coffee in peace and quiet, and get a whole day's worth of w

Not Every Mom Has A 'Tribe.' And That's Okay.
There’s always a lot of chatter about “finding your tribe.” The other moms who get you. Your people. Your group of moms with whom you feel comfortable commiserating. News Flash. There are moms who never find their Mom Tribe. And, there are moms who don’t want a tribe. Yep. Believe it or not, there are moms who go through life without ever finding their Mom Tribe. And sometimes, it’s on purpose. There are a few reasons why a mom may never find her tribe. Some moms aren’t loo
